Faena Hotel Miami Beach Miami Beach, Florida, United States

Faena Hotel Miami Beach

The resort is located oceanfront on 32nd Street in Miami Beach at the middle of the coming Faena District, which resides between 32nd and 36th Streets. While the resort is completed, the surrounding region is going to be an active construction site during 2016, so choose that fact for what it is worth once you consider reserving. Around 10 blocks north of South Beach, the District is filling at a former no man’s land on the brief driveway between South Beach and yet another strip of ritzy resorts. The region, called mid-beach, is poised to become the latest part of Miami Beach and, even if the Faena District is finished, will provide different attractions such as a shopping bazaar with restaurants along with the Faena Forum arts centre.

Style & personality

Throughout my stay, I could not help but feel just a tiny bit like Dorothy in Oz. To put it differently, I was not in Miami Beach anymore. However, where exactly was I? Within a Baz Luhrmann film. The gilded Studio entry bears eight neo-romantic murals by Spanish artist Juan Gatti and its customized soundtrack by DJ Henrietta for a New Age-y reverential effect. The over-the-top Living Room Lounge is upholstered in rich crimson and slick tiger prints using a golden show-stopping chandelier of vulnerable bulbs. The resort delivers a various high-flying vignette at each turn. Outside by the pool, a woolly mammoth sword dipped in 24-karat gold stands within a temperature-controlled glass instance overlooking the beach, palm trees swaying overhead. It is a Damien Hirst sculpture entitled “Gone But Not Forgotten”. Both commissioned and acquired artwork is deeply integrated into the resort’s design strategy.

Service & amenities

From the minute I stepped from my cab, I had been shepherded up the white terrazzo measures and passed from a smiling attendant to another like a baton at a superbly choreographed relay, finally arriving together with my butler about the floor. This level of support was maintained during my three-night remain, from restaurant personnel to shore attendants. Hospitality is really friendly, skilled and well trained to always deliver stellar support.

The resort includes the dreamy Tierra Santa Healing House spa, the Saxony Theatre (that will stage a cabaret-style musical revue beginning in January 2016), a pool and beach services. There is also a fitness center with daily meditation and bootcamp courses provided on the shore.

Suites are outfitted with vivid turquoise velvet drapes which seem as though they were plucked from a proscenium stage and are currently decorating a living area with a luscious red velvet couch, overstuffed coral armchairs plus a lavish Deco area rug made by Martin. Animal prints, brushed gold fittings and diamond-patterned timber grain furnishings act as accents. The mattress is on the company side and the sheets feel strangely scratchy and very low thread-count for these lux digs, however. The bath, with its turquoise houndstooth tile flooring, huge white plaster soaking bathtub, reddish pouf and dressing table using a vertical arrangement of exposed bulbs, and cause you to feel just like Satine backstage in the Moulin Rouge. Each area has a balcony and oceanfront rooms provides exceptional views.

Food & beverage

This is a genuine foodie destination resort with Los Fuegos, the initial North American restaurant with celebrated Argentinean asado grill master, chef Francis Mallmann. My rib eye with chimichurri was the most yummy slice of beef I have ever tasted. Pao by James Beard Award-winning chef Paul Qui presents ingenious pan-Asian cuisine beneath a stunning dome overlooking the sea. Breakfast provides with tantalizing offers including crab and scrambled eggs or huevos rancheros, together with a wholesome choice of fresh-pressed juices. There is also the Saxony Bar and Living Room couch to get exceptional cocktails and Faena’s very own wine label.
