Only over the Marques de Pombal Square, where the most important thoroughfare of Avenida de Liberdade runs although the center of Lisbon. It’s perfectly positioned for the airport only a 15-minute drive off and provides easy accessibility to the designer stores of El Corte Ingles. Neighborhood Jardim Amália Rodrigues park is a gorgeous green oasis from the warmth of summer.

Style & personality

Since 1985 the hotel was a landmark on Lisbon’s skyline first as a Le Meridien and as Tiara Hotel. Taken over by the end of 2014 from InterContinental Hotels and Resorts, a significant refurbishment is currently underway. Already done would be the public places that glimmer in blue sea with golden trim and dark forests. The bedrooms will probably be adjacent, lifting the very comfy suites and rooms to the 21st century concerning technology, and incorporating a much lighter, brighter feel.

Service & amenities

Service is exemplary, by the smiling welcome of Ricardo about the doorway, to the easy check in, into the real warmth of the staff from the restaurant.

The 331 rooms have been dispersed across 19 floors. Whilst refurbishment is planned for fall 2016 to present a more modern feel with stronger colors injected to the muted palette, the chambers themselves provide every comfort: Nespresso machines, oversize beds with soft linen and small but tasteful baths clad in marble.

The views are unique in the top floors, together with Christ the Redeemer statue observable in precisely the exact same sweep as St. George’s Castle, the feature red rooftops between the Tagus beyond.

The Uptown Bar, with its broad choice of Portuguese wines and Akla Restaurant, decorated in blue, white and blue tiled panels, direct from the primary lobby.

The meals in Akla is outstanding with a menu of sharing dishes, a solid Josper Grill segment (attempt the Octopus) and favourites like the perfectly seasoned Steak Tartare, together with quail eggs. A ‘Green Choice’ biological menu is supplied on occasional Wednesday lunchtimes.
