The St. Regis Florence

The St. Regis Florence Florence

St Regis’ texture is utter opulence, and the ambiance is enhanced by support that manages to be both unobtrusive and affable. Recently refurbished, and with Arno perspectives, it appeals to travelers who enjoy proximity to beaches and shops, and the greatest standards of five-star pampering.

In pedestrianised river-side piazza Ognissanti, Starwood’s St Regis is at the center of prime Florentine luxe-boutique land, and no space from the significant sights.

Style & personality

Reopened because the St Regis in late 2011, the grande-dame effect of its former incarnation as the Grand Hotel is tempered with a more stylishly contemporary-meets-classic-Florentine appearance.

Right from the warmly welcoming library-cum-lobby, where reception formalities are performed by affable staff in tables instead of a forbidding desk, you will get the service in the St Regis to become professional but informal, careful but quite discreet. Guests staying in Premium Deluxe Arno River View Rooms and all suites receive their very own butler – really more of a private concierge, who may be contacted 24/7.

Each of the Regis’ 100 bedrooms are equally as lavish as you would expect for this level of hotel. Decide on a river view room in case you appreciate your Arno panorama: the sweep up-river supporting the Ponte Vecchio is excellent. For actual fashion victims there is the austere Bottega Veneta package; additional rooms are somewhat more Florentine-classic using city-themed murals in certain.

Food & beverage

Within a elegant glassed-in courtyard, the hotel’s upscale Winter Garden from Caino restaurant is modulated by Valeria Piccini, the epic chef of highly-rated Tuscan foodie pilgrimage restaurant Da Caino. Piccini is a creative genius, but not a culinary trickster: her meat, vegetable and dish dishes are all based on fresh regional ingredients, and desserts such as the emulsion of olive and orange oil using goat-milk gelato are unmissable.

Value for cash

Costs here represent criteria, which can be high. However, off-season site rates could be marginally less penalizing and there is no doubt that the recently revamped St Regis feels just like a much better price than its Starwood sister association, the currently relatively dowdy-looking Excelsior on the opposite side of the piazza.
