Nimb Hotel Copenhagen
Located in the leafy Tivoli Gardens, which date back to 1843, Hotel Nimb is steeped in history. Its fairground rides continue to be in full swing now and winter brings a superb Danish Christmas marketplace. Come summer, the open minded stages have attracted everyone from Elton John to Lady Gaga. Christiansborg Palace is a 15-minute stroll away and Central Station is right opposite the resort’s entrance.
Style & personality
Dreamt up in 1909 from Tivoli’s property architect Knud Arne-Petersen, Nimb was constructed to become an ‘Arabian dream castle’ with striking Taj Mahal-style turrets. Its exterior has since been updated with high quality marble stucco and countless outdoor lightbulbs that bring the area to life through the night. Interiors are generally Danish in layout, with Douglas pinewood flooring and Øland granite stonework, also unique touches like Moooi’s desk lamps that comparison conventional glass chandeliers. Fresh flowers are filled in giant vases all around the resort, and there is plush velvet chairs, exquisite old picture Tivoli posters and classic rocking horses at the lobby. Neighborhood artist Cathrine Raben Davidsen’s beautiful pen and ink line drawings are dismissed on the walls of this tasteful Nimb Bar.
Service & amenities
Nimb is a masterclass in exceptional provider, which will be attentive yet unobtrusive. The mixologists, who’ve encyclopaedic knowledge, will shake up you any cocktail choice without batting an eyelid. Each room includes free butler service. The concierge can arrange private shopping, a manual and a driver, and you’ll be able to rent a classic bike (for #16 per person, per day). There is a tiny 24-hour fitness center and in-room spa therapies are offered.
Nimb’s 17 spacious Nordic-inspired bedrooms vary from Dual to Executive Suites and all but one (area 14) look out across the gardens. You will find solid hardwood flooring throughout and Geismar linen covers the decadent four-poster beds. Among the nicest bits has got to be that every room includes its own roaring open fire along with a basket of birch wood (that is actually the Danish notion of hygge in its best). Top-notch baths have enormous freestanding baths (again, except space 14) along with Aesop products.
Food & beverage
You are able to take afternoon tea in the Nimb Bar with its towering colored ceilings, heavy crystal chandeliers, flickering candles and expansive mirrored doors. Vinotek has over 1,000 distinct labels in its own wine cellars. Breakfast is best taken in bed, in which it stems to a silver trolley filled with tasty coffees, Danish pastries along with a fruit choice which would not seem strange at a 19th-century painting.
